If I’m alone in the car I don’t use the heat unless I need to defrost/defog the windshield. I run it until the window is clear, then shut it off. I’ve already got a coat on, so I usually overheat with the heater on.
My car has heated seats too but I live in Miami. The rare occasion I’ve been in my passenger seat, I’ve accidentally hit the button to heat up my seat. Only takes seconds to realize my mistake. woooo-eeee, talk about uncomfortable in an already hot environment!
We got a new car last year. because we moved about 1100 miles north of our previous location the Mrs insisted on heated seats and a heated steering wheel. No problem.

When I was a kid in the winter we always pre-heated the car engine with a head bolt heater. It was mandatory in ND.
