Her Ladyship is quite a “prize”. / You can tell from the look in her eyes / that she really enjoys/ having "murderous “toys”/ for whenever she plays, something dies !
“’I’m sorry, Miss, but your bird has passed on! This falcon is no more! He has ceased to be! He’s expired and gone to meet his maker! He’s a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If you weren’t holding onto him he’d be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He’s off the twig! He’s kicked the bucket, he’s shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleeding choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-FALCON!!
A typical British bird … large eyes that miss nothing, a big, sharp beak, talons for gripping and ripping flesh, ornate feathers, and a nature that can go from docile to demonic in a flash.
We had a male Merlin in our city that was trying to defend the same territory as a nesting pair of Peregrine Falcons. One day, the tercel (male falcon) did lunch with the Merlin. That ended the dispute.

But she looks like she is still debating the old saying, “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.”
