All those mountains of evidence? Yep, never enough for the GOP when one of their own is credibly accused.

Never enough evidence to convict? Nah, that’s not the issue.

The evidence is overwhelming, and #MoscowMitch, #DirtyDershowitz (defender of wife killers and women abusers*) and #LapdogLindsey and all the rest know it.

That is why they are not questioning the amount of the evidence, they are simply going to obstruct ALL of it so that no one ever sees any of it.

    1. Block all witnesses on an unprecedented blanket basis, even without citing any specific instances of privileged content or reason. Lindsey Graham was the one in 1999 who said that the day Richard Nixon earned an impeachment was the day he obstructed subpoenas.

    2. Block all evidence on an unprecedented blanket basis, even though the Supreme Court ruled UNANIMOUSLY (including several Nixon appointees) in the Nixon case that, while privilege could be claimed for legitimate matters of official business in specific instances for cause, it could not be claimed on a blanket basis to protect the president from embarrassment or cover up illegal activity.

    3. In the event that evidence does manage to see the light of day, claim that a president can do anything and is, effectively, above the law. Trump and his lawyers have claimed that the president cannot be indicted, cannot even be investigated and that no evidence can be provided for an impeachment trial and that even the very acts that the founders designed impeachment to address, i.e., official acts of office for soliciting foreign intervention in an American election.

*Dershowitz defended wife murderers Claus von Bulow and O.J. Simpson, and women abusers Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein … and now Donald Trump.

Obviously it’s not about evidence for the GOOP (unintended typo, but it seems apropos). And Obviously it is about the evidence for the rest of us. In a fair world… Hahaha… evidence would matter in a trial. But this isn’t a fair world. Unless the Dems can manage to get something on at least 3 of the GOP, this is going to play out exactly according to Mitch’s script.

I wish conservatives could imagine a world where they had a candidate who supported the exact same conservative policies that the president* supports, but without the compulsive lying, bullying, senility and criminality that comes with Il Douche. They could be preparing that candidate for election RIGHT NOW! If only they could see how much better off they would be…

This cartoon is obviously false. Any evidence the republicans had access to would have been heavily redacted and the boxes would have been sealed shut with layers of duct tape.

Republican circular logic: We don’t want to see any evidence of Trump’s guilt because we know he he’s innocent. We know he’s innocent because we haven’t seen any evidence of his guilt.

This is the Repug Party showing its true colors. I hope against hope that the public is watching this and understanding that the entire Party has become a criminal enterprise. And will vote accordingly.

Currently, in the heartland of Merica:

Ma and Pa Idiot of Inbred, Missouri, will ignore the trial, plan on voting for trump and send him their social security check. All the while, they will scream and rant about socialism and wonder why the chewing tobacco is so expensive at the local Wal-Mart.

Then while cleaning his fully automatic AR-15, purchased from the nice White-Supremacist down the road, Pa will accidentally shoot Ma, the cat, TV and Lazyboy recliner in a hail of gunfire…

    Pa will blame Democrats.

The label of the “GOP” should become an embarrassment to everyone who puts an R on voter registration forms. It has become representative of every disgusting criminally illegality and grossly immoral practice in politics.

Conservative pundit Michael Gerson: The question at stake in the Senate trial is plain: Is the use of public funds as leverage to gain private political benefits from a foreign government an impeachable abuse of presidential power? The matter is so simple that Trump’s defenders are reduced to babbling incoherence in order to avoid it. […] White House lawyers have declared impeachment to be a “brazen and unlawful attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 election.” But the Founding Fathers SPECIALLY [emphasis mine] included an impeachment provision in the Constitution to overturn an election when the president engages in misconduct and betrays the public trust.

If a Republican president commits a crime, and only GOP senators are there to see it, is it still an impeachable offense?

Fox ‘news’ is broadcasting lying propaganda for its criminal president instead of the Senate Trial which might hurt Trump’s feelings if he ever heard the truth.
