Even if you hadn’t destroyed them your parents would have given them away while you were in college, along with your comic book collection. “I thought you had read them all, dear.”
Well, yeah, but parents buy toys for kids to play with, not as collectible investments.
I used to have a large collection of Star Wars action figures. And Matchbox cars. And Stretch Armstrong. And first-generation handheld electronic games (e.g. Coleco Football, Simon). All of which would be worth a lot today if kept sealed in the original packaging. But what kid would want to leave all of his toys in boxes on shelves?

And if I still had my 1965 Beverly Hillbillies lunch box, they go now for about $200.

How I wish I had the Matchbox cars I had back in the late ’60’s. Got thrown out during one of our moves.

I threw away a broken Mr. Mercury robot toy as an adult shortly before learning they were big collectors items.;..

I have a slew of old vinyl records that I never got around to ditching. Sometimes laziness pays off.

And unlike ‘collectables’, we took our toys OUT OF THEIR BOXES!

I gave away my first comics collection, which included that DC issue of “House of Secrets” with the first appearance of Swamp Thing.

Not only toys, I want my first car back, a 1970 HG Kingswood (Holden). I paid $1500 in 1987 for it. Today would be worth about $30,000.

All the Japanese mecha toys in my cellar worth about half a million $. If they were still packed and mint condition. They aren’t, of course.
