Midnight misspelled as “midnite” was sometimes used as a bit of artistic license by musicians in titling their work or professional names. Witness The Midnite Man by Bill Justis And His Orchestra (Phillips label, 1957), for example. Peripherally, the Five Satins recorded their signature Ember label single in 1956, which was In The Still Of The Nite (as opposed to In The Still Of The Night). That variation of protocol doesn’t bother me even half as much as does the misuse of an apostrophe in plurals (for example, if your last name is Smith, your family would be the Smiths, not the Smith’s. The latter infers that someone named Smith owns something).

In her defense, at least she remembered to include all relevant copyright information. ✨

My thoughts as well.Long hours, short staff. And either spelling is appropriate.Baleen’s way might attract noir fans.

They can do that so you get Midnite, Light Brite and so on.
