Sorry, I may piss off a few with my opinion here but if someone is convicted of a crime, they do NOT deserve cable, steak dinners, and laying on their butts doing nothing. I work very hard for what little money is in my bank, they should have to work. The can paint, clean, wash, cook, plant crops and harvest them ect. The prisons should be completely self sustaining personally. The only things we the tax payers should pay for is the guards.
As one that spent the last 26 years as a corrections officer, the dangling carrot is necessary in order to maintain a safe atmosphere. Most prisons the inmates outnumber the staff 10 to 1. In some correctional institutions, such as the federal ones the officers that patrol the cell blocks only have a radio as a means of defense.
Eldo, you’ll have to forgive FishStix. He’d like nothing better than to leave California and move to somewhere in “Real Ammurica”, but he’s said that his wife won’t let him.
Of course, if he were as vocal to Mrs.Stix about how much he hates California as he is here on GoComics, perhaps she’d relent, but he clearly feels it’s safer to empty his bile on anonymous strangers.
What? You’ve often said that the reason you don’t move out of California is that your wife doesn’t want to. So does she know that she’s holding you back, or doesn’t she?
There are many people who inject political commentary on non-political cartoons, and I’ve done it myself from time to time, but you’re the most tiresome one-note of the bunch. And yet I never see you commenting on the cartoons in the Editorial Cartoon section. Is it because people there are more likely to call you on your knee-jerk disdain for the state in which you (seemingly unwillingly) live? The standard of debate down there is at least sometimes pretty high.
