Then maybe Nelson shouldn’t ever let Grandma (or anyone else) kiss him. The human mouth also has a lot of germs and human germs are far more likely than dog germs to make him get sick.
Poor pooch probably swallowed millions of the critters that live in our follicles and have sex on our faces at night. However, the experts also say bugs are high in protein.
Canines evolved to hunt in packs, and would regularly receive wounds in the battle, so their saliva is anti-septic, to clean their wounds – hence the cone around the neck after surgery.Cats hunt solo and sometimes can just get a bite in before their prey breaks loose and runs off, so their saliva is septic – it will eventually weaken or kill the animal so they just track it as long as it takes. Their claws are septic also – “cat scratch fever”.Humans just invented the spear and stood way back.
The short answer is no. Dog mouths are NOT cleaner than our mouths.
In fact, studies have shown that hundreds of unique bacterial species can be identified in the saliva of dogs.
But that doesn’t mean that our mouths are clean. Similar tests in humans have found the same results—there’s bacteria everywhere!
Aside from bacteria, numerous parasites can be present in pet saliva. Both can be transmitted to humans and can cause an assortment of medical conditions.
That’s why your veterinarian may have told you not to let dogs kiss you or lick your face.

Wrong! A dog’s mouth, depending on what he last ate, is likely cleaner than yours after you brush your teeth!

Did you know that canines can harbor various corona viruses? I dunno if they’re a reservoir for Covid-19, but it’s possible.

Dog germs? Are they germs that look like dogs? I didn’t think germs cared one way or another whether their host was a human or canine.
Are there also horse germs? Parakeet germs? Cat germs?

Dog’s mouth is filled with antibiotics, which is how they clean and heal wounds. Ignorance never seems to end.
