This is a lovely sentiment from the teacher, but what epidemic etc is the kid referring to? presumably teacher started working no more than thirty years ago?
Thank you very much Mr. Mallett for using āgraduate from collegeā. Far too many people, including those who should understand English such as journalists think that āfromā is redundant.
Mr Spaetzle nailed it. We begin with hope, get slammed with reality, then learn to accommodate both. As a guy said, life aināt no easy gig. You gotta find your beat
I realized it was Aids just about the time the comments opened. Thot maybe he was finally addressing Covid and shifted Frazz into the futureā¦ How is Frazz this far behind Pearls?
As someone who graduated college in ā89 with CS and math degrees I can see what he is talking about. The market crash of ā87 heralded the recession to follow, HIV was just getting started and no one understood it at the time. It took me six months to find a job in that economy. It taught me a lot about persistence, grit and hope that are coming in quite handy now.
I find it interesting that people have come up with a variety of options on what era Frazz was referring to. Perhaps he was making a point by being intentionally vague? Every generation has its crisis. This is ours.
