Great reference to Dr. Strangelove. Peter Sellers was to have the role except he broke his foot. They hired Slim Pickens who was largely a secondary/tertiary character. After playing Major Kong Slim Pickens noted a vast improvement in his roles, pay, and perks. This role, 1941, and Blazing Saddles were great roles!
Survival kit contents check. In them you’ll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days’ concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella’ could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.
Someone mentioned Peter Sellers in one of the comments. Another good movie from that era is one with him called ‘THE MOUSE THAT ROARED’. He plays about three or four different rolls in it. Like Dr. Strangelove is satirically hilarious.
