Thank you, Detective Tracy. We have the files of Mr. Bates’ crimes before us and in the records of our proceedings and they are, indeed, extensive. However, the script for these stories require us to be complete and utter doofuses, so it is our ruling that Mr. Bates be released in order to provide even more plot lines…
1-RALPH EDWARDS: Surprise Mr. Bates! This is a special episode of THIS IS YOUR LIFE starring me, Ralph Edwards. We’ll dispense with disguising the people from your past – except for those in the Witness Protection Program of course. First up, your archnemesis – DICK TRACY! clap
2-DT: Thank you. I first collared Broadway trying to scalp tickets for one of Sugar Daddy’s productions at the Patterson Playhouse. laughter from the panel I know, right? Not the sharpest shiv in the prison yard. Now most people assume that Broadway’s monocle affectation was a tribute to his fondness for Nazi generals. NO! In fact, he loves the classy Mr. Peanut! laughterBATES: Enough! I withdraw my petition! PLEASE!
and again we see really bad research by the writers. past behavior doesn’t mean he’s still a danger. he was locked up for crimes but having committed crimes in the past does not negate rehabilitation inside.
Okay Fanboys who have no knowledge of Dick Tracy. Broadway Bates made his first appearance in 1932. The Penguin first appeared as a Batman foe in 1942. Do the math nerds, and shuddup about the Bates/Penguin resemblance. Gould came first by a decade
I did the research and Broadway Bates first appeared in Tracy’s city on 1932. This guy really ages well. Secondly, it was revealed that he has a brother who closely resembles him named Oswald. Hmmmmm, I knew I seen this guy somewhere before. Wak Wak Wak ; )
Bravo, Tracy. You are surely correct. But will the Parole Panel acknowledge that truth, or is the Fix in for a surprise release of Bates to the mean streets of Tracyville? (Mirroring real-life Illinois, where it seems the governor is cutting some convicted murderers loose….)

I don’t think that’s what Mr. Bates was hoping to hear!

Too tired to do the research, would a parole board include a judge(hence the “Your Honor”)?

I’m losing interest in the current strip, since it has turned in an endless operation nostalgia. The freshest story was the latest minit mistery.

I wonder if he is still smirking after Tracy’s testimony?

Still wondering why someone chose The Penguin from Batman in the role of Bates…

You know what’s a crime? The tedious pace of these interruptions that murder whatever momentum may have been built up

Why is Mr. Tracy so mean? I’m sure Mr. Bates would never do anything wrong.

My favourite parole-board hearing scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61XUb28jkUI That’s the way to do it, Tracy!
