if Snoopy can (imaginatively) survive military life, can Charlie Brown (realistically)?

Join the Navy. They say you can see the world when you join the Navy. But what did I see a lot of, THE SEA.

Well, on the plus side, if CB is prone to motion sickness on the long ride, he’s already got a barf bag ready to use …

My older brother told me that if I got drafted, I’d be a Peon for two years. So I enlisted in the Marines and was a Peon for four years.

And keep in mind, Charlie Brown is based off of old Sparky himself.

Charles Schulz served as a machine gunner in the 20th Armored Division. A child once asked him what was his most treasured possession. Schulz showed the child his Combat Infantry Badge. Charlie Brown going into the Infantry just makes sense.

Schulz once remarked he didn’t like going to camp as a kid for reasons like what Charlie says in the last panel. Then lo and behold, Schulz got drafted into WWII. That said, thank you sincerely for your service, Sparky.

Luckily you never grow up. Otherwise you would have been DRAFTED: to fight in Viet Nam.
