HA! AH HA HA! Locher couldn’t draw a building collapsing, so he just drew the entire rectangular building completely intact, but put the whole thing at a twenty degree angle!!
This is like something a second grader would do!!! (No offense meant to second graders.)
Want to bet that the building is fully intact tomorrow? It wouldn’t surprise me if Locher repeats one of the older images, complete with the storm and waves.
What if Mordred not only jumped, but has already escaped? For that matter, if the rats killed and ate Mordred, would you trust the medical examiner to identify the remains?
The sad thing is that Thick hit the water without even a splash, much less a FLOOOM. Speaking of strange sounds, what’s with that “YI!” Is that the sound of one rat chirping?
By the way, why does Thick say he hopes that rats can’t fly? Most of us learn at an early age that they can’t fly, which if nothing else makes life easier for air traffic controllers.
The chains should be no problem as Mordred wasn’t wearing them. Remember he got them off and was swinging them at Thick. If the downstairs in the granary was flooded, where were all the rats staying that they need to come upstairs now that the waters have receded? I don’t recall the trap door being shut.
“You dirty rat, I’ll get you for this!” said in the best old-time gangster voice I can manage. The rats recognized one of their own and are, as I write this, helping Mordred to escape. OK, it’s really bad but it makes about as much sense as what Locher is actually going to put up here.
So Sam can identify that head bobbing in the water in the dark all that distance away as the Dickster. Uh-huh.
And the Dickster, using the pair of eyes in the back of his head, noticed that Mordreck didn’t follow hm out. Uh-huh.
Gweedo, we did Mordreck’s face. We’ve been looking at it for several days. That’s why he became a serial killer; his victims were all the people responsible for his horribly botched nose job.
This isn’t the first time Sam showed up to rescue Tracy. Remember the story arc with Upward Lee Mobile and Trendy 25 years ago, when they locked him in the sauna, and when he escaped from that, threw him down an elevator shaft? Sam got there just in time. BTW, where’s the Pied Piper when you need him?
I’ve finally discovered the secret to the Locherverse. Locher has never met a human being. He comes from strange alien dimension where the inhabitants are vaguely humanoid, both mentally and physically. Their eyes use infrared light, which turns any warm object into a source of illumination. That explains the red glow around Thick as he falls. And the glow in the granary windows? That comes from the body heat of Morbid and the swarm of rats. Their hands clearly didn’t evolve on this world, either, and are ill-adapted to the use of Earthly technology.
As for their mental processes, that’s obvious. Human beings just don’t act like the characters in this strip.
One of the decoy cars was attacked by the people who had vowed to kill Mordred, and its occupants made a heroic and ultimately successful effort to survive a shootout with the vigilantes. Another decoy car was intercepted by Mordred’s associates, who arranged an ambush with high explosives under a low bridge, followed by a raging ninja battle in which the police killed some and arrested the others. The third decoy car, the one with four flat tires, found that the police officer at the intersection was in fact David Dingleberry D’oggybreath’s partner in crime, who broke down and confessed to the murder of Butterfly McCorpse, the bribing of the medical examiner and the counterfeiting of thousand dollar bills which would destabilize the Federal Reserve System. Decoy car number four stumbled across a fiendish plot to release hordes of plague-infested rats on the world, but in a stroke of genius they diverted the rats to an abandoned granary because, as Officer Teevo said, “No one in his right mind would go there!”
In a related development, Thick’s application to work as a delivery boy for Pizza Feller was turned down. As the manager said, “If he can’t deliver one pizza face, how can he deliver an entire pizza?”
I can almost understand today’s Slimeglobber’s Wrecksbook. I once had a small cat who used to prey on wild animals. And children. It wasn’t safe to let her out, either.
Speaking of small animals, if the rats ate Mordred, will he become Lesdred? Are we going to get any Camelot references out of the Mordred name, or has Locher forgot that?
@prrdh, If that’s Mordred’s face, it looks just like his mask. I believe he unzipped it to show Tracy, then zipped it up again. Locher though he couldn’t draw anything that hideous.
It is a crime to let your pets outside loose. They could get run over and a driver trying to avoid hitting your pet, could cause injuries by striking another vehicle or pedestrian. Plus, in our climate during the winter, it is cruel to leave animals outside for long hours in the snow and cold.
Is Tracy “The Flash” with all that red fire around him as he falls.
The one thing we know for sure this week, that the story will wrap up as the new “Tracy Team” start soon.

So I take it the granary collapsed in that last panel?
So, to summarize:
Dick had this very simple job of delivering his prisoner safely, and he failed.
The end.

Is Mordred rat dinner? Stay tuned. Maybe we’ll find out March 13th…or not.

The Crimestopper’s is actually good today. Around here, small pets are coyote lunch.

Bill T: Great music for today! LOL
Crimestoppers tip: Be careful not to leave your prisoners alone in abandoned granaries. They could easily fall prey to a horde of rats.

I’ll throw in one for Crimestoppers too. Seems coyotes are all over the place, I’m in the Western ‘Burbs of Chicago and we’ve got them here too.
Either Mordred didn’t jump, or he did and that chain took him to the bottom. Either way, eternal justice gets carried out.

It probably had something to do with Tracy being radio-active. He was glowing red when he jumped.

Tracy could have done a better job of getting Mordred out, like pushing him out first, but he didn’t.
