Does anyone know if Robb ever discussed how he names his characters?

JoJo’s probably not used to hearing his middle name when he’s not in trouble!
So Benny’s in a full name kind of mood today?
They must be really ugly if we never see their faces.
Their shadows have teeth! Love it!
Maybe he is wearing a wire…
He prefers formalities, maybe.
Have we ever actually seen these kids, or are they just silhouettes? And why does one of them, presumably Willarbee, wear a dunce hat?
And why is Mr. Pollard referred to by his first name, and the other two their surnames?
