LOL! Zen is not the word I think of when it comes to cutting grass!

So is chop wood-carry water.

Grass cutting is like doing the same thing over because you know you will be pleased with the result. And you can see a real difference between start and finish. So few other pursuits offer that satisfaction, it makes a nice offset to the office/business/labor grind.

And I agree with momofalex7. That memory for me goes back over 70 years, yet is kind of new each time. Yes, I have changed to a self-propelled walk-behind mower, so the pure scent includes a bit of fuel vapor and there the mower is loud. That disappears when the mower is stowed, but the pleasure remains.

With sufficient intoxicants of choice, even mowing the lawn can be fun. However, one must weigh the cost associated with the repairs to the damaged mower (machine and human).

You want to get REALLY zen? Trade the mower for a fingernail clipper.

Mowing is a zen thing, your mind is in neutral and other than not running into the trees there is no thinking.

We have a riding tractor. I love riding that thing!
