That’s right Arlo. You’re not supposed to get potatoes from tomato plants.

Potato vines are not actually potato plants. They are evergreen flowering vines that bloom during the warm months with white flowers and yellow anthers, which some say resemble a potato. Its scientific name is Solanum laxum (previously known as solanum jasminoides). If growing indoors from seeds, start the process a few weeks before the last frost.

My wife is missing all of the plantings from the previous place. I think she’ll feel better when we sell that house and she can focus on her new garden.

I think your plants are suffering from moonburn, Janis. You need to give them some nightshade.

The deer ate all my sweet potato vines. When I sprayed them with various deer repellants, the deer just thought it was a condiment!

You can buy good tomatoes. Plant OKRA! Because you sure can’t buy it in the grocery store.

We have bright green caterpillars eat out tomato leaves. They must be very tasty. I’m getting too tender-hearted to directly kill them, so I frequently toss them up on the roof or down the drive a ways. If any ever make it back, I will toss them again.

The ones which eat the Chestnut leaves, I let eat. The squirrels are going to get the nuts anyway.

Well Arlo. Time to break out the little wooden mallet, then sneak up behind those bugs and give them a nasty crack to the back of the head. Always works and is organic.

Interesting, didn’t think potatoes grew on vines, thought they were tubers.
