Sometimes this is a very good idea. I have a “grandniece” who is a brilliant kid but autistic who completely freaks if anybody in her family wears a mask. She has enough trouble “reading” facial expressions and body language under normal conditions. It isn’t much, but even a “smiley face” helps a little bit.

Now it’s only a matter of time before someone rigs a pull string to make the corners of the ‘mouth’ go up or down.

And it won’t be again for a very long time, if ever.

You can tell if a person is smiling when they are wearing a mask. You can’t do a good smile without involving your whole face.
On the other hand, you can’t tell when someone is sticking their tongue out at you.

Somewhere online I saw skin-toned face masks with cartoon noses and mouths.
