I have the simple Mr. Coffee with the mechanical on/off switch. The night before fill it, turn it “on”, and plug it into an “off” smart plug. Next morning whenever I wake up, it’s just OK Google turn on “coffee”.
Last time we used the timer on the coffee maker, everyone in the house had either jobs or schools to get to early. And before then, “instant coffee” … and now I can’t believe we actually used that stuff.
I am not a coffee purist, but automatic brewing is one of the worst things you can do to coffee. Coffee is an aromatic, and its grounds are subject to absorbing the flavors of what is in the air when left out overnight.
I’m old. I have a built in alarm clock. My wife sets up the coffee machine the night before so I can get a cup of the good stuff (before it finishes brewing) in a minute or two.
50 years ago, I had an alarm clock with an AC outlet on the back. I plugged my electric teapot into that and, if the alarm didn’t get me up, the boiling water did.

We have the pot with the thermal carafe, so the timing of the brewing vs when we get up is not as important for us.

I don’t have breakfast immediately after getting up, and making my one cup of coffee doesn’t take so long that I can’t do it in the morning.

Surprise me. But not before 7A.M nor later than 30.

Alarm? In this day and age? What does it matter?

That’s a nice first panel—the light in the middle of the dark really stands out!

People can see inside the house at night with the blinds open. Shut the curtains or blinds when the light is on at night.

But, who is she asking in the last panel? I think she is looking as us readers, asking what time we want it set for.
