Got the news I tested positive for CV19. Not surprised considering I work in a NYC homeless shelter. There’s only so much you can do to keep yourself safe. In quarantine as I type. Feel fine except for the loss of smell. It does come in handy when the story is a real stinker like the Shaky saga we just endured.
Due to mild concerns about trusting Roommate, I never leave any currency anywhere easily found. Before going out about my day I always check the amount and the condition [certain folds and other aspects] of it.
Remember the Pink Panther movies?, he had a housekeeper whose job was always to challenge him on his return so as to keep the Inspector sharp, alert, and on his game.
“In Toronto, there is an old distillery (20-some buildings) that was renovated into condos, offices, trendy restaurants, and craft places.”
That is so fine and good how they do the buskers; no fee, like as if they make Rock star wages; just a sample vid of their work and in they go pending approval. Around here you would be buying that permit.
this was just after tracy joined the force, but he’s giving a beat down in his usual suit-did it take him that long to get him OR did he skip being a patrolman because he’s just so gosh darn wonderful?
1-DETH WARMEDOVER: And so far as the garage is concerned, didn’t you see it was blocked by a fence? I couldn’t use it if I wanted to ya big dummy.
2-DT: Yeah, well at least I ain’t dumb enough to rent a place from Sly Deal…
3-…Back when I was new on the force and couldn’t yet afford this snazzy, yellow combination winter-and-rain coat to match my hat, he tried to sell me a STOLEN umbrella. I gave him one right to the chops.
DETH: Wait. You hired in at detective level? I thought you had to work your way through the ranks and pass tests to become a detective.
DT: Usually but the Chief at the time, Chester Tracy, recognized my innate abilities. He said he’d had his eye on me a long time and knew talent when he saw it.
DETH: What’d you do, solve the mystery of the missing cookies or something?
DT: Well, no one else was able to prove that I ate ’em…
Interest here that Mike refers to Dick’s first encounter with Viller as “Right After I Joined the Force” when he himself had established a realistic origin of Tracy as coming up in through the ranks from uniformed officer to plainclothes Detective.
Counterfeit money. —Is this another example of Chekhov’s Gun? Could it be that the hidden swag in the old warehouse that the Coney Gang are after will in the end turn out ironically to be counterfeit bills? —Just a possible plot line at this point, but who knows what Mike will do?
Anyway, this backstory by Tracy, for Detective Dendrobia’s sake, is somehow relevant, I presume. And the art by Joe in panel 3 is a really nice homage to the Early Style of Chester Gould….

Good morning™, Viller historians!
I guess it was when Tracy was found to have the counterfeit money that Tess left him for Viller?

I see a pattern emerging;
1. Introduction to silly new villian.
2. Long, boring history lesson.
3. Incoherent plot movement.
4. Swift, unsatisfying wrap up.
5. Let’s do it All Over Again!

Well, that’s all the action we’ll see in this story. Maybe this means Coney and Howdy Doody are looking for Villers’ ancient counterfeiting plates.

When I first glanced at this, I thought it was Sam drawn by a guest artist.
