Annie may not be in her own strip, but every year she shows up in Dick Tracy as a friend of Junior’s girl. It turns out Daddy Warbucks and Tracy and Diet Smith are old friends. Brenda Starr also has shown up in Dick Tracy. She and Wendy Wichell are archrivals. I’m surprised that Dondi hasn’t made an appearance in Dick Tracy. All the strips belong to the Tribune syndicate. It would make sense for Dondi and Annie to share an adventure.
There are links being posted in the Annie section of GoComics each day. We have a daily strip of “Annie” from 1980 and a week’s worth of strips from “Little Orphan Annie” from 1970.
Let’s see, to Dondi’s left is Mickey Dugan, AKA the Yellow Kid (he’s Irish), but I don’t recall the name of the spectacled man to Dondi’s right. Then next right is Moon Mullins, and bending down is Pa from “Polly and Her Pals.” Buster Brown is then away in the back, and Jiggs is tiptoeing more in the foreground—finishing up with Offisa Pup and Ignatz Mouse, of course. That’s the one panel!
Sweet lamentations. So glad I got to see them as my dad and stretched out on the floor Sunday morning. We got both Los Angeles papers Sundays. Ah memories.

Last time they went to the old Cartoon Retirement Home, I thought Walt was going to stay permanently. Is Phyllis there?

Rerun from August 15, 2010 – 2 and a 1/2 months after the last Annie comic strip – with 2020 copyright.

I would really like to see some of those “retired” cartoons come out of retirement. Serialized cartoons were great.

Brenda Starr is mentioned, though in 2010 her strip was in her final months (So was Cathy).
