Big box discount appliances are like buying Chinese tools. They might get the job done, but they don’t perform well. break easily, and are missing important features that you can see weren’t installed. When they break, you go to the dealer stores that can’t afford to carry the sub bottom line and sell higher quality appliances with more features and longer life.

To my knowledge, Walmart does not offer any large home appliances (washers, refrigerators, stoves, etc.) and, to my knowledge, didn’t in 1994 when this storyline was first published. So, at least this woman shouldn’t be as concerned. Now, once The Home Depot and/or Lowe’s comes to town …

Letterman, Letterman… Was he the guy who worked with Ed McMahon? Or the chubby guy without a chin, always making racist jokes at the expense of his Black band leader?

I know of no Walmart Supercenter around here that sells major appliances. Wide Screen TVs, yes, but dishwashers, no.

The WalMart super store here does not sell large appliances, and we have two drug stores and a hardware store in town, two appliance stores, two grocery stores, all doing okay for years. Did lose our two tire stores, though…

Doohickies, nick-nacks, bric-a-brac, etc reminds of the Christmas shows that come around in November and December. More home made stuff that is only good to give as gifts to relatives you hate.
