Some people like to replace cuss words with food items. Fudge is a popular one. But I think there are more fun words. High on that list is the first think I thought of when I saw today’s strip – Smudge.
Smudge – the value of something. A person’s opinion, the vase that fell, missing the bus… the list is endless! :)
It’s BC! Nobody knows anything yet. Everything the air is a UFO. Identifying flying animal and bird species, odd-shaped clouds and “swamp gas” comes later.
In High School, I worked part time at the newspaper in the mail room, bundling papers for paper boys, and sorting them into mail bags. Pretty low level stuff. Usually, I was the first to actually READ any of the paper, and that would be a copy with some pages blank ‘cause those plates were not ready yet. When I’d spot something glaring, I’d show my friend Russ, a pressman. Then we’d show Ted, the lead pressman would would decide if it was serious enough to make a new plate. The pressmen were the only ones in the place who had any pride in their work, so the paper was quite a rag. A well printed rag, but a rag none the less.
That spot is the remains of a big nasty cockroach that was walking across the almost finished panels. The person that smacked the vile insect couldn’t stop with only 1 smack, but had to smack the disgusting creature 3 separate times to make certain it was Dead! Dead! Dead!

You are all wrong. It is Covid-19. Why not, it gets blamed for everything else?

I think Fred Flintstone said them first…Fracken and Fricken, I dare say they are much more usable than Smudge.
