    It’s true. The Soviet Union banned chewing gum. Tourists used gum, blue jeans, and American cigarettes as gifts when visiting.

    In the early 60s the gum was always stale and brittle and we would often just throw it in the street . In 1963 Fleers put a stale cookie in their card packs.
