I guess Calvin didn’t hear the classroom announcement of parent/teacher conference (too distracted being Spaceman Spiff or whatever).

Great emotional contrast Calvin undergoes in panel 2 vs panel 3!

    Calvin never thinks things through.

Even though it’s been five decades since I sat in a grade school classroom, that same gnawing feeling in my stomach showed up with the words “Parent-Teacher Conference.” A feeling that also showed up when I had to bring my report card home. Doing homework once or twice a month will do that.

In the second panel, the verbiage sounds very much like Trump.

The star Wormwood portends the end of the world, I guess for Calvin this will be true metaphorically.

On Saturday, I reminded you all that Susie had once told Hobbes “You make a good double agent”. I’ve since considered that Bill Watterson also used Calvin as a double agent. He sometimes used Calvin to forcefully state his own opinions – especially regarding the environment – and other times used Calvin as a spokesperson for views that he wanted to ridicule. In the latter case, another character (such as Hobbes) would voice Bill’s real opinion.

Sometimes when Calvin shows his reactions of fear and anger, it’s hoped that he never sees the episode of Twilight Zone’s “It’s A Good Life”. He might learn how to duplicate the ability. Probably get very crowded quickly with teachers, parents and others in authority.

Poor Miss Wormwood. She’s probably in her thirties. Teaching Calvin can do that to you.

Yes, Ms Wormwood would have much to tell about Calvin. Ms Wormwood may be a bookworm. But calvin doesn’t need opinions from teachers. He is outright bright and education seems to dim his brilliance.
