And by changing the shape of his rig so that they are all in a conga line, he would not need to bust through walls, they could just enter though doorways.

I predict that the gateway will be found just in the nick of time to save them all from the attack of the toothbrushmen and they will be transported into the next reality. Of course, this will probably take about 4 months in our time.
