My wife and her friend are especially bad for this mania. “Of course you’ve seen them before. He/She is an ACTOR. Be happy they’re getting work.” (This never calms them down. If I want to enjoy the show, it is always best to just pause and go look it up on IMdB)
I remember watching three hours of a Twilight Zone marathon because every episode everyone would be saying “Wait, WHO is that? What was she in later? Oh, it’s THAT guy. He was in… um…” Then we’d watch the end credits, figure out, but then there would be another one. If we had had IMDB then we would have gotten to bed early.
When they hit thirty, you know, the memory goes. Poof! It just blows to pieces, little factoids of no significance that cannot be put back together again. Lament for Peter and Madeline, the aging Otterloops.
Alice, of the wonderfully changeable expressions, has learned a Great Lesson from her underrated Big Brother….
This was many a scene from my childhood. So frustrating to hear my parents go through this almost daily. Then when I was old enough to start to recognize actors but couldn’t place them, the answer would be “He’s been in lots of things.” So thankful for IMDB.

Once again, a little under 10 years ago, Richard posted a blog entry regarding this strip:

I wonder why Petey, striving to become World’s Pickiest Eater, would ever need a mandibular workout?

Unless you don’t have a TV I believe everyone has had a conversation like Alice’s parents on today’s strip

I chewed my arm off to get out of a meeting. In retrospect, not a good move on my part. Now they call me “Lefty”.

Hahahahaha! Six panels, six emotions, brilliantly rendered with minimal, powerful strokes.

Petey seems to feel that as you get older and learn a few coping tricks, life gets easier and more controllable.
