Always consult an “expert” when you’re in the middle of an economic collapse. They’ll be able to backwards engineer it. They won’t really have a clue (few so-called economists do being evangelists for their particular theory), but it’s always fun to hear an expert" fudge it.
In my experience, Economics is like the weather. If you spend a penny in a gumball machine in Clinton, IL, it might just cause a 2,000 point rise in the Hang Seng Index. It really would take a mind like John Nash’s to be able to plumb the chaos and come up with something like a workable theory for even a small fragment of it.
Just because economics isn’t boring doesn’t mean it has suddenly become interesting. Sometimes the terminology can bring on a terminal headache, while the results of a monthly budget session can leave the average homeowner seeing red.

Why Planet “Money” instead of “Planet Money”?

love Freakanomics. Haven’t tried Planet Money. Art of Manilness is a cool podcast but not as much about cash.
