I think he’s referring to The Plague by Albert Camus not Moby Dick.

Defoe’s A Journal of the Plague Year would suit nicely.

What popped into my mind (inappropriately) was Metamorphosis by Kafka. Imagine if that was a pandemic!

Once a day I go outside and say “Computer, end program”, just in case it works.
