Some quotes from Bennett Cerf.-“Gross ignorance is 144 times worse than ordinary ignorance.”- “Middle age is when your old classmates are so grey and wrinkled and bald they don’t recognize you.”-“The Detroit String Quartet played Brahms last night. Brahms lost.”-“In a notable family called SteinThere were Gertrude, and Ep, and then Ein.Gert’s writing was hazy,Ep’s statues were crazy,And nobody understood Ein.”
Bennet Cerf was pretty memorable in his own write (pun intended) but maybe more memorable for betting Dr. Seuss that he couldn’t write a children’s book that used no more than 50 different words. We ended up with Green Eggs and Ham. Cerf conceded that Seuss had won but, according to Seuss, never paid up.
The only place I ever saw or heard of Bennett Cerf was on “What’s My Line”, but then I had no idea who the other panelist were, also. My age at the time was in single digits.

It’s anybody’s guess if Rod’s pen is indeed mightier than his sword…but it wouldn’t take much, for sure! :D

Wonder how many people who read this even know who Bennett Cerf was. Besides the commenters of course.
