Yep, it’s been a meh year for sports. We have the Grand Final on DVR and my wife’s team was in it but we haven’t worked up the enthusiasm to watch it. Maybe Thanksgiving day?
The Finals of the NBA and NHL were not to my liking and the World Series was not bad, but they all had to play because of the $$$$$ involved. The CFL was shut down for 2020 and I don’t know about 2021, even though they released their schedule. They make their money from fans in the stands, no big TV contracts. The NFL has had TV contracts and sponsorships such that they have not had to sell a single seat since 1976 and they still make a profit. Partial crowds and piped in noise have made watching very interesting, to say the least.
“This” fan has never cared, nor never will. However, I do enjoy basketball and football at the smaller schools, like Division 2. It seems more pure/competitive than the big Division 1 schools, which is essentially professional sports.

In 2020, it’s just a wonder if half your team doesn’t have COVID-19 already.

Several of the survey companies I do, ask about sports and COVID-19 almost every day. My answer is either “Don’t follow” or “Don’t care”.

I thought that Jimmy would have a strip about John Kennedy today or how time is marching on for the Boomer generation.
Heller wrote “Closing Time” about the Greatest Generation. That title now applies to us.

It’s hard to care when you aren’t in the crowd or you can’t see the crowd cheering.

Considering the damage that COVID19 does to people especially in their age range of 20-40, seems not worth it.
