Yeah, Rall, he is NOT a progressive. We all knew that, and we all know that you hate(d) it. He’s still better, in the majority opinion, than the Mango Mistake.
Never mind that it was a better speech than anything said by Il Douche, ever. Since he’s not a champion for us progressives, he must be as bad as the Mango Mistake.
Republicans, Republican judges, Banker Joe with the Crusading Avenger and the usual cast of moderate Democrats (aka corporate toadies)-rest assured that the Money Party is in the driver’s seat as well as the passenger seat and little to none of the progressive agenda will be enacted. To be fair, there’s much damage to undo and that’s also going to be an impediment to progress. Just because the Orange Buffoon has lost doesn’t mean our work is over.
I wonder how long I’ll be able to invoke the name of the Orange Buffoon as a negative example for my children as in, “Stop that screaming and yelling and stop with the potty mouth. You’re acting like Donald Trump.” .
Biden, a moderate, barely won and somehow Ted thinks that a progressive would not only win in a landslide, but change everything in 4 years without a problem.
That is a pretty progressive list, inclusive, you may say. Who else could he name, Ted, to make his list even more progresive? I am sure you fit in there somewhere. Try looking in the middle.
Strange days. Joe would seem an odd choice to lead us now if progressives were a majority in America, and/or if we were not faced this particular combination of disasters. We are facing them, and these times may well prove to be among our country’s and President Biden’s finest hours.
Joe, it’s a bit redundant to say, “All Americans”, then list them. Plus, if you forget to list a “category”, then you’ll have to say, “Most Americans”. It’s all good, though. Congratulations on a clear and decisive win.
It is a process, Mr. Rall, moving with little steps. Big changes such as you espouse are typically only accompanied by armed conflict. Even the extremely moderate Progressive ideas Mr. Biden agreed with adversely affected the election of Democrats to the House and the Senate; people still resist Progressive ideas.
This Nation was founded by Liberals on Liberal principles, Liberal Ideals and Liberal values. Since this country began Liberals have had to drag conservatives, kicking and screaming every inch of the way, into the next decade and the conservatives are still at least 10 years behind. But Liberals know and accept that the ‘best’ government is a moderate government so as to serve ALL the People. We know we will move forward, just a bit slower is all. After all, that is the point of our self government.
After conservatives Newt Gingrich and Tom DeLay sat down in 1994 and made a list of slurs for conservatives to attack Liberals. Some adopted the name ‘progressives’ rather than fight as our Founders did. ‘progressives’ are liberals with no guts.
Mr Rall, my condolences that Biden won. I know how terribly disappointed you must be. This gives Progressives a chance to groom and field a great candidate in 2024! And the House, Senate, states, counties and cities will all follow right along!
Rall is right about this. Biden will not be sublime perfection in all things. subsequently, he and his policies will come up short every time. Along with this we will also have to fight an opposition who will be portraying Biden as revolutionary progressive (communist) who is out to destroy America; since they actually vote and put effort into achieving their political goals.
Steve Schmidt wallops the ‘cowardly, sniveling GOP Congress’ for abetting Trump’s election ‘temper tantrum’
“Let’s be clear. Joe Biden is the President-Elect of the United States,” he began. “The refusal of Republicans to acknowledge this are poisoning American democracy. They are breaking faith with our history, ideals and ideas. It is unforgivable and dangerous. It is UNAMERICAN and disloyal.”
“It is outrageous that Mitch McConnell has not congratulated the President-Elect and Kevin McCarthy’s comments intimating that Trump may yet win are even worse. Trump’s delusional temper tantrum is proof of his manifest unfitness and insanity,” he continued before adding, “The corruption of this process, the peaceful transition of power, by the cowardly, sniveling GOP Congress is the gravest vandalism of our system yet. We will live with the consequences of their cynicism and illiberalism for a long time.”
Ted, you’ve spent the last year attacking Biden. You’ve called him a murderer. You’ve spread lies about his health and mental capacity. You’ve lied about his family. You’ve attacked his policies. You’ve implied that he cheated in the primary. You’ve personally insulted Biden and his supporters repeatedly. You’ve done everything you can to stop Democrats from being elected.
And now you have the nerve to complain that Biden isn’t being nice enough to you!
I say this as someone pretty progressive but at the same time pragmatic, a lot of progressives are really annoying. They shouldn’t be surprised they don’t get the love they want. They whine about not getting what they want fast enough and set unrealistic goals with no workable plan to make them happen. Their endless drumbeat of uncompromising criticisms annoy me more than dealing with far right conservatives. I never in my life ever expected to agree with conservatives. But disagreeing so often with people with who I have similar goals and objectives feels unnecessary and ridiculous.

Small steps at a time, Ted. You don’t want to spook those conserves.
The Dems would not have won if he had come out with a full progressive platform, or if a “far leftist” candidate was running.
If the repubs retain control of the senate, Moscow Mitch will resume his usual obstruction and it will no progress will be made.

People who hated Trump voted for Biden, but also voted for downballot Republicans to check the influence of the radical left.
If you’re more concerned with attacking Democrats (even Manchin!) than flipping GOP Senate seats, you’re useless.
