Starfleet Academy can be reached via Starfleet the International Star Trek Fan Club [SFI] once you pay your 5 usd annual membership, you can begin taking your Academy classes of which there are several dozen Schools comprising several thousand courses.

Every time I go where I think no man has gone before, I find a beer can at the base of a tree.

In a world where you can name a star after yourself, and buy an acre of land on Mars, I bet there’s a place to get a Starfleet Academy diploma.

I bought a locator and signed up for transporter. Tech classes only work with hands-on experience down in the Jefferies tubes.

His uniform shows that he has earned the rank of Captain. Do the continuing education requirements reach that high or is he just looking for a fun class to bide his time? I remember my father had to take several seminars/symposia when he was a LtC/Col in the Air Force but that was before online anything. I would think that in the mid 2200s (from the looks of the uniform) Academy classes that are not practical would be offered on-line. As a physician I would probably have a mix of online, classroom, lab, and practical coursework.

Star Trek came out in 1966. Pluggers were born way before that of course. There should have been an on line Academy classes by now….

I have often wondered about the sleeve lace rank on Kirk’s uniform. It suggests Lt. Commander; which in most navies would be the minimum rank one could hold and be the “captain” of a capital ship. Captain being the honorarium given to the commanding officer, his/her actual rank is normally never mentioned by his /her crew.

Shouldn’t be a crystal radio said, made from a kit a course, and one of the Captain video rangers?
