I go in with a list and buy that. If my wife is along, we buy 2-3 times as much stuff. She believes in buying on sales. When we got married she had seven boxes of Life cereal, I didnât try counting the cans of tuna.
Not true of all men. My husband can spend hours in a hardware store, ( I know because Iâve waited for him in the car) and heâs not a sports fan either.
I shop for the best deals. My wife just grabs things and chucks them in the cart. I actually went through a spell where I used coupons, and saved enough to pay the down payment on our Disney Vacation Club purchase without her knowing!
I knew one who would park on the couch in front of the TV all weekend, only getting up for potty and food. If none of the major sports were on, he would watch whatever off-season crap there was, even cliff-diving.
I guess Iâm insufficiently macho. Sports donât interest me, so I do the shopping while my wife watches football. And I do stock up on stuff thatâs on sale. At one point I had over a dozen boxes of cereal and eight or ten jars of peanut butter in the basement. (I eventually consumed them all, though a few were past their sell-by dates.)
Being single, I can look upon this bemusedlyâuntil I remember back when I was a little kid and was taken on interminable shopping excursions with MomâŠ.

Men shop alright, just preferably without women. When you have diametrically opposed shopping methods.

At one time all three major sports and basketball were on at the same time. Might not get that again in our lifetimes.
