Pish, pish, tut-tut. A mere dusting. Not even enough to close schools. Oh, wait. With remote learning 2 to 4 feet isn’t enough to close schools anymore.
When I was stationed in NC, we got about 2" of snow. Our Captain came by the barracks and got all of us from WI, MI, PA, upper NY. You are truck drivers today! He figured us yankee’s could drive in the snow without problems. He wasn’t wrong. Snow melted a couple days later.
I’ve been through the winter with a storm with no name. It felt good to not be freezing rain. In the winter you can’t remember your name. Cause there ain’t no one but Jim Cantore to blame. La la la la la la la……..
I am a weather watcher , enthusiast etc. The weather channel is the one that started naming winter storms. It is stupid. It also has not stuck like naming hurricanes did.
Big snowstorms is a time to hunker down with tv and adult beverages.
It’s the unnamed ones that will surprise you. Also, I am pretty sure that weatherpeople on TV here in the south get kickbacks from supermarkets for saying the words ice & snow.
Since we buy for a month minimum at a time these days – there is plenty even when we go out again to food shop – I have to limit how much frozen food he buys so it will fit in the freezers. He likes frozen entrees meals – I give him a count – “I can fit 5 dinners in the freezers” (and that actually should depend on what else frozen he buys) – he picks out 7. It is like dealing with a child – “no, you have to put 2 back – any 2 you pick to go back.”

Did Arlo just draw a line in the snow? She-who-must-be-obeyed did not say maybe go to the store. She said go.

How about Snowmageddon 21?

Where I am the mere mention is enough to jam the grocery stores with people “stocking up” with bread and milk.

If I remember right, 4 in. is rather significant where you live. Stores likely already crowded now.

Heck with milk and bread. Stock up on beer and Bar-B-Q!

Think of the snow as a bullet with “Arlo” imprinted in it, genius. 4"/10cm of snow in your area will be killer-diller.

I worked in broadcast news for many years and store managers would say off the record bread and milk sales came in second to beer and Pop-Tarts.

Names for winter storms makes about as much sense as names for morning fog.

Even if it gets a name, it won’t be til after the storm is over… “Ah yes, I remember the Great Ice Storm of ’78.” ☺

In minnesota 4 inches is not a storm. It is called Wednesday. I feel sorry for those in the south that get snow and do not have the removal equipment.

In Michigan most don’t run to the store unless they are talking about over a foot of blowing and drifting snow.

We have sufficient food for the two of us for three months. That is cause we only buy what we like when it’s on sale. Yes, we rotate our stock.
