If only Liz is standing on the other side and Jon hits her to the ground not long after he steps into the sidewalk ice, she wouldāve ended up having morning sickness tomorrowā¦
I was jogging on an unshoveled sidewalk, a mess of frozen footprints, when I saw a patch of clear cement ahead; so I made a great leap to land my next step on something safe. Sidewalk ice ā a torn rotator cuff needs lots of physio, and a few months, but it will heal.
Reminds me of some cracked ribs I would prefer to forget. But I do remember that with sufficient motivation you can suppress a sneeze. And cracked ribs are sufficient motivation.
Only Jon would slip on the sidewalk ice the instant he steps out onto it. Also, does anybody remember the strip where Jon, Garfield, and Odie attempted to impress some chicks by inline skating, only for them to lose control, with Jon going off the sidewalk down the bank, while Garfield ran into a tree and Odie into a birdbath?
It seems to be a particularly guy problem, but the mind keeps insisting that you are still 25 yrs old, when the body says āDonāt do this, your 55, it will hurt.ā The mind over rules the body and forces it to say āHold my beer and watch this.ā
My wife watched a woman get off the bus once. She stepped onto a solid one-inch iced-over sidewalk, slipped on her butt and slid down the hill alongside the bus. After traveling a short distance, she grabbed hold of a parking meter, whirled around it and kept sliding down the sidewalk as my wife and other horrified bus riders watched. She was heading toward an intersection as the bus pulled away. My wife says sheās assuming she got stopped.
Jonās family is a little bit incompetent, because during a look at the yearbook, Jon mentions mistakes and things that happened to them. Like one example, a dynamite truck driver got blown to pieces. One time, Jonās grandson will say āThis is my grandpa, Jon Arbuckle! Hereās him in high school, hereās him at the beach, and hereās him fined for speeding down a sidewalk at 50 mph. And hereās him in the energy room.
I have to say, this kind of made me laughā¦ this was the concept of our Winter āplayground equipment,ā in grade school. We had absolutely nothing to play on, so, when Winter arrived, weād all manage to create a long strip of ice, and slide down it on our shoes. This was a pleasant trip down memory lane, for me!

Probably taking a close-up of memory lane. Painful or embarrassing, perhaps. Like most kids, Jon usually moves directly ahead, somewhere.
