I know this has nothing to do with today’s strip, but I could not help myself to post this. I never knew there was an actual thing/event as Cowboy Poetry, seeing as Earl likes to don his cowboy hat, boots and bolo tie every now and again.
Cowboy Poetry Gathering, National Last week in JanuaryThe National Cowboy Poetry Gathering is a celebration of the old tradition of cowboy poetry—and of other cowboy art—in the buckaroo town of Elko, Nev. Poetry by cowboys has a long history; cowboys traditionally recited poetry as they rode on cattle drives, but it was a private, little-known custom. A poem by Allen McCanless published in 1885 has these lines:My ceiling the sky, my carpet the grass,My music the lowing of herds as they passMy books are the brooks, my sermons the stones,My parson’s a wolf on a pulpit of bones…The gathering, which began in 1985 with about 50 working cowboys, has become a six-day affair that now includes folk-music concerts, western dances, exhibits of cowboy gear, and workshops not only on writing but also on such topics as horse-hair braiding and photography.
never found/lost one in my bed, but did find one with the bottom of my foot in the bedroom. those little buggers hurt. especially when they go in about a half-inch or more.
Clearly none of you heard the horror stories my mother used to tell. You NEVER use a needle in bed. It can stick you and enter your blood stream and go straight to your heart! My best friend, who grew up thousands of miles from where I did, also heard the very same stories.
During the summer, we have stickers in our yard. If any are are brought into the house by our shoes, I’ll ALWAYS be the one to find it…by stepping on it, of course.

If he ends up with a dimple in one bun will she suggest the same thing for the other bun? She suggested that for the car.

No losing needles in a Sleep Number bed!

Mom was sewing with my sisters and said, “Oh, I dropped my needle.”
My littlest sister volunteered to find it.
“Oh, easier than that,” Mom said. “Tentoes, can you come here?”
We all understood the joke. I found the needle, but not with my bare feet.
