In the days when computers were not yet personal, games were not yet electronic and phones were not yet portable, kids found interesting ways to stay occupied, even choosing to Beep a Beagle!
Be kind to Snoopy. It was only five years, (when this strip was written), since Charley Brown and Snoopy went to the moon. Poor Snoopy didn’t land though. Perhaps Peppermint Patty, if you study hard, you can fly like an Eagle and land anywhere you want to.
Thrillsville 1974 compared to today – Thrillsville 2021 – being 1 year since the COVID pandemic lockdown began for the USA with states and places slowly reopening in months and stages after that…
I think half of Patty’s school problems could be really bad eyesight. Afterall, she thinks Snoopy of that short kid that plays shortstop on the baseball diamond.

The look on Marcies face in the last panel is priceless.

I used to love, and sometimes use, many of the sayings Shultz used back then: Thrillsville, Joe Cool, etc.

Unlike “The Family Circus”, the Schultz estate doesn’t pretend it’s 2021…

In grade school back in the early and mid-fifties the day wasn’t divided into periods. That did not happen until I reached junior high school.

As in, 1974? I was under the impression we were seeing much newer strips by now.

Snoopy’s eye-roll in panel 3 is hilarious. :)

Hey, would someone explain to me the reference “Thrillsville ’74”?

I wonder if after writing this comic in 1974, Charles Schultz ever thought his comic would still be so popular nearly fifty years later.
