Brings back some very old childhood memouries for me. In winter, Dad watered down the garden and made a skating rink for me (and the neighbourkids), Mom taught me how to skate . Hockey, of course, Mom was thru and thru Canadian :)
This reminds me of a comic strip (It might have been calvin and hobbes I don’t know.) in which the main character left open a window in his bathroom and the bathtub water freezes and in the morning he ice skates.
My great-uncle had a similar set up on his dairy farm in Manitoba but it was large enough for ice hockey. Fill it and overnight we had a rink. Great Xmas break fun. And the snow was more forgiving than the boards for body checking. We eventually put in boards over the years. Too many pucks flying into the field.
My Father built one of those for me on the farm when I was was in grade school. We’d also go to a neighbors pond nearby. I never did skate well, my ankles were too flexible. On the plus side, in the 60 some years since, I have yet to sprain an ankle.

Life can get pretty slippery — even for adults.

Not like those Hans Christian Anderson, (2 April 1805 – 4 August 1875), stories is it Pasquale. But keep at it and you will get the hang of it.

As a figure skater, I love this strip today.

That’s right, Pasquale…never hurts to have enough guardians around!

An activity best learned while one is short and don’t have far to fall.

Ah, the Ice Sandbox trick.
I remember seeing this on an episode of Gilmore Girls.
Luke made a skating rink for Lorelai in her front yard.

Jimbo being ‘right there’ is no help to Pasquale!
