Yeah, the air got let out of all their tires. Most franchises have had them at some point; the ownership from the dark, hot place. It can drag a team down for a period of years. How much blame does Bill O’Brien bear?
Houston fans when they get warning after warning after warning that their electrical grid can’t handle highly predictable cold weather: “Hey, how about them Texans?”
“There were prior severe cold weather events in the Southwest in 1983, 1989, 2003, 2006, 2008, and 2010,” Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and North American Electric Reliability Corp staff summarized after investigating the state’s 2011 rolling blackouts. “Extensive generator failures overwhelmed ERCOT’s reserves, which eventually dropped below the level of safe operation.”
The freeze was easy to see coming, said Jay Apt, co-director of the Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center. “When I read that this was a black-swan event, I just have to wonder whether the folks who are saying that have been in this business long enough that they forgot everything, or just came into it,” Apt said. “People need to recognize that this sort of weather is pretty common.”
I’ve been a Houston NFL fan since the days of the Bum Phillips “Luv Ya Blue!” Oilers and a Texans fan from day one. Losing both DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt in the span of a year ranks up there on the pain scale with the Oilers’ playoff collapse against Buffalo in ‘93. Having said that, I can’t be upset with either player. Considering how badly Cal McNair has handled personnel decisions, it’s just as well that J.J. and DeAndre are gone. My hope is that they both get the opportunity to get a ring.

Dave Wastead’s calling the player personnel shots.

Even if stadiums are allowed to be full next season, the Texans might want to hold onto those cardboard cutouts.

They had a good run there, unable to beat the Patriots when needed though.

Thus ends the New England Patriot’s NFL farm team! Or, as many Texan fans call their team, Pats Lite.

Some owners want to win and are willing to do what it takes. Others try to make a personal profit.
