Every jungle gym etc that I played on as a kid has been torn down as being too dangerous. Then some that were erected afterwards have been torn down as well. Go figure.
My father built us a “real” swing set and slide out of pipes and sheet metal. Seemed really big to us. When we got to the top of the slide, we were way over the roof of our house. The sheet metal slide had some small pipes for side rails. When we slicked it up with wax paper, it was quite a ride. Don’t remember that anyone really got hurt. I think it taught us to be careful.

Dill’s right. One is imagination, the other is paranoia.

Jungle Gym? Looks like a teaching aid so kids can understand the lower intestinal system!

We never had anything that cool when I was a kid. Just metal frameworks you could climb around on and plain old uncovered slides.

This made me think of something I haven’t dredged up in a very long time: Remember Johnny Weissmuller in “Jungle Jim”? ☺

The swing set seems kind of intimidated.

It grows by feeding on an occasional child and sending the remains to the Land of Lost Socks…
