My writing used to be so full of loops and swirls that when my son wanted to forge a signature for school, he used his dad’s scrawl that was much easier to copy.

I suppose loopy writing, like the ability to read an analog clock, is no longer a “necessary skill.”

I’m surprised Bucky didn’t make a pun on “cursive”.

Laptops are nice, but I still prefer to write with pen and paper. It just feels more gratifying for me.

An obvious scam: Send donations. Fish named Dubloon. And yet Satchel is sad. Another Bucky victory in the cerebral department by default.

A 20-something niece seemed to be having problems with some paperwork she was filling out, so I asked if I could help. She admitted that she couldn’t read the note that the employer had written with information and instructions because it was in cursive. That was easy enough for me to help her with, but I don’t know what she or others will do in the future. (Look for gray-haired people, I guess!)

My kids, now in their 30s, went to a school where the third grade teacher made a big deal of cursive, as the secret that would be revealed in 3rd grade!

I never had good handwriting and I write with a combination of printing and cursive. Those cursive capital letters are, well, yuch!

If you ever try to read cursive documents from 100 years ago, you may be surprised to find that your modern script only gets you so far. Always evolving.
