I’ve nothing against the waning crescent except that you have to get up so early to see it. That said, once when I had a really bad commute and had to get out the door by 5:30 AM to get to work, I saw a proximity of a waning crescent, Venus and Jupiter. It wasn’t a conjunction but it was pretty awesome
Astro 101 lesson: This is a pretty thin waning crescent Moon (the lighted portion is pointing left and slightly downwards), which means it’s visible for only an hour or two before sunrise (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway). So: did the two animals stay up all night, or are they just up quite early in the morning? At least Wimmer doesn’t show the lighted portion facing UPWARDS, as some cartoonists tend to!

And here I thought that Barn Owls and Screech Owls eat rodents like mice and SQUIRRELS?

Nice that the owl sat down for a visit rather than eating the little guy as the usually do.

That owl would be crunching on that squirrel.

I rarely write poetry. But when I do, it usually involves oranges.

Last I knew, barn owls eat squirrels.

You would think the owl would invite the squirrel over for dinner.

Perhaps the owl could translate his poem from Owl to the basic Woodland-Speak that all the animals seem to know.
