Never mind communicating with other species on earth, people can’t even communicate with other people…

Yeah. I say gimme all your food and you runs away screaming EEEK! A BEAR! So much for communication.

Thanks to the cell-phone, genuine communication is now microscopic

Truth. Still trying to get folks to understand that animals are NOT dumb, far from it (tho there are ‘dumb’ aspects in every species), they just don’t speak English.

The animals have to get the humans properly trained first. Like my horse, “feed me, groom me, scratch my butt.”

I don’t think we’ve been willing to acknowledge an intelligence that is not like ours.

Horace is right, we all need more tolerance and acceptance to co-exist! Including animals and the humanity of it all!

Can’t say the I communicate that well with horses either.

I think that is why we are trying for aliens. We can’t communicate when we can’t/don’t listen. I/we always know better and more than you, Right? What do “they” say you have 2 ears so you can listen twice as much as you speak.

A point I have made myself.. but no one was listening. I expect “aliens” think us no different than social bugs like termites or bees.

Would an alien species capable of faster than light travel consider us to be an intelligent species?

Reminds me of a science fiction story I read once. Aliens tested earthlings to see if they were ready for contact by seeing if they could establish communication with another earth species. After the first successful communication between a human and a dolphin, the aliens declared them worthy. And contacted the dolphins.
