In a weird way reminds me of the gray that is my avatar. One rainy day no other boarders were at the barn, so I turned him out in the indoor arena. It was a large arena, surrounded by tack boxes lining the outer wall or the arena, with stalls on the the outer wall of the building, walkway in between, with a joined barn with more stalls on the south side. The lids of the boxes were slightly slanted towards the ground. Making sure no one needed the arena for awhile, only a couple of other boarders were there at the time. I went to do something in another barn that my gray’s stall was in. Came back and one of the boarders was laughing. Turns out she was cleaning her tack box along the arena. Putting her stuff on top of the box next to hers, occasionally taking some things to her car to take home to clean. Well, she kept coming back to find the stuff left on top of the next box on the ground. She thought it was odd they had slipped off the top, as the lids didn’t have a steep slant, but thought that had to be it, as my horse was dozing on the other side of the arena. She put the brushes back on the box and continued what she was doing. Made another trip to her car, came back same thing. Brushes on the ground, horse on the other side of the arena. The next time she took stuff to the car, she didn’t have that much and returned much quicker to find… yup, the big gray was not just the reason her brushes were on the ground, he was picking them up one by one and inspecting them before dropping them on the ground. She watched him drop the last brush, then start nonchalantly walking back to the other side of the arena. We both had a good laugh over that. She was mostly amazed that he wasn’t just knocking the stuff off, but picking up each item one at a time and then dropping it. OK, that and his walking to the other side of the arena to hide the fact it was him causing the brushes and such to end up on the ground. :D

I know he always wanted to be one of those professional pointers you see on game programs and car shows. “I’d like to buy a verb, Chuck.”

I mean, is he really harming anything or anyone if all he’s doing is emphatically pointing at things?

He’s a horse with a hobby. If only I could think of a term for that….
