I’d like to see the things that Tad1 sees on his walks. On my walk to my car after work last night, I saw so much litter, it was disgusting! Some of the garbage I saw in the parking lot included an ice cream cone, a couple disposable face masks, some plastic bottles, assorted paper and other debris and a pile of discarded cigarette butts. Absolutely DISGUSTING!!!
I was off work on Monday night and there was a frost advisory and nobody bothered to cover the plants. And there was a light frost and the impatiens and celosias got nipped. Frankly, I was expecting more plant damage than there was, but many of the annuals we have are pretty cold hardy. I actually expected to see frost damage on the petunias and marigolds and geraniums, but they made it through okay. But I get so irritated that nobody in management wants to be bothered with covering the plants. I’m always the only closing associate in garden center, so there was nobody in garden center Monday night. I did work on Tuesday and there was another threat of frost, so I covered all of the annuals, including the more cold hardy plants like pansies, violas, dianthus and Dusty Miller. No plant suffers frost damage on MY watch! Covering all those plants took about an hour and a half, since I had to do it all by myself (like I always do). I’ll be busy on Wednesday doing CVP’s (“customer Value Pricing” – in other words, price reductions) on all the frost damaged plants from Monday night’s frost. I’m glad there is no more frost threat in the weather forecast for at least the next ten days. I’ll be on vacation from May 16-22. I can hardly wait!
The fosters are slowly gaining weight. We’ve moved up to two cans of Fancy Feast kitten wet food per meal. They don’t quite eat all of it, but most of it. Moose was in there yesterday and all three were lined up for a bath. I have a picture of it.
Looks like Flossie still has some of her nine lives left in her. Never underestimate an old cat. On another note, saw three damselflies, two robins, two dragonflies, and a garter snake while out walking today. I was worried that the snake would get run over, but fortunately, it got out of the road before any cars came along.
Late this afternoon, I looked out my window, and a raccoon had decided to try eating the suet out of the suet cage. I walked out, he went under the deck and I locked up the suet. In a little while he came back and cleaned out the platform bird feeders (but there wasn’t much left as it was cool today and will be cold tonight so the birds had eaten almost every sunflower seed.)
