When I was almost sixteen, I’d have detailed that thing for the chance to drive.

Yep. Moved from no-name sandals & “sneakers” (& high heels, for the fancy times) to Sketchers, New Balance & “tasteful” low heels…age & a few infirmities struck me down.

Keen Versatrails. For hiking I like their Targhee boots.

You want stupid shoes? Just look at high heels.

You want stupider? Look at higher heels!

I’m with Frazz on this one. I try not to need any “tasteful” shoes. Besides my wide-toe-box running shoes (which I seem to be wearing out regularly), I use Gore-Tex running shoes for rainy days, heavy walking shoes for the cold and boots for snow. Every now and then, they get fussy at work about running shoes, so I have a pair of “working shoes” (sensible, heavy duty).

I’ve been using New Balance walking shoes for over a decade, they’re comfortable and come in black so the only reason I wear my “real” shoes is job interviews, and other occasions where I need to wear a suit.
