Nowadays, that question is not so far off the planet as Pierpont usually goes. Have read of all kinds of possibilities, given new materials and new technologies for the operating room. The Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman were only fantasies in the 1970’s but have since become much closer to reality in practice.
Got mine replaced 7 weeks ago, getting around pretty good now, although I still have some difficulty getting out of the car if I can’t get the driver’s door completely open.
About 25 years ago a woman I know from Chicago had hip replacements. Six months recovery each time on crutches and a wheelchair. Four years ago she had them redone, at the same time. Was up and walking in three days. Progress.
I still wonder, if a star university athlete who’s a natural found a legitimate way to make more money faster than fhey speculate they would in the sports sector, would they choose that, or stay with the original plan.
