AAA just announced the national average for a gallon of regular is $3.04.

On the other hand, it’s been over a year since I filled up my car.

It’s about the same as it was two years ago. And considerably lower than it was 5 years ago.

But “gas prices” will turn into a huge deal because the Republicans want it to.

When it was more the $4.00 under Bush, the litany was “The President doesn’t control gas prices.”

Gas is up because there’s more demand. Now, if you could just have a few more hundreds of thousands deaths, I bet the price would go down again.

We’re still dealing the Russian hack on our oil delivery system.

If traitor Trump had not been so friendly with Putin perhaps that hack and the solar winds hack would not have happened.

Putin lets hackers use Russia as a base, he gets 40% of the ransom money.

“Bell bottom blues, you made me cry

I don’t want to lose this feeling

And if I could choose a place to die

It would be in your arms

Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?

Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?

    I’d gladly do it because

I don’t want to fade away

Give me one more day, please

I don’t want to fade away

In your heart I want to stay. . ." – Bell Bottom Blues – Eric Clapton

A couple memories of the gas shortage of ‘74-Some stations’ signs couldn’t show prices over 99 cents, so they started posting the price for 1/4 gallon. There was a big surge in sales of diesel cars because diesel fuel was cheaper than gasoline at the time.

Hold on there Hoss. I remember the 70’s. Back then you could still get most of five gallons for three bucks, easy. Heck, “Gimme five dollars worth” would just about fill you up during most of the 70’s. And they would pump it for you.

I have long heard the horror stories of $7/gallon in other countries. Until we reach $6, no one should complain.

So many excuses as to why the price has shot up. Wonder what the excuses will be when the price tops $5.00?

LOL, in the 1970s the highest average price per gallon (for Regular) was only 86 cents. Retail prices for gas didn’t hit $3 until 2008… even adjusting for inflation it didn’t get that high until 2006. Yes, gas prices did rise a lot during a relatively short time in the 1970s, but if you’re going to do a retail price gag then I’d gladly go back to 86 cents per gallon.

One time I was told that the Americans fighting in the Middle East was just a “war for oil.” I said to him, “If it’s a war for oil then why aren’t the gasoline prices back down to 89 cents a gallon?” There was a shocked look on his face and the sound of crickets in the background.
