Wife disagreed with diagnosis and did her research on the Internet. Conferred with a new doctor. After tests new doctor agreed with her researched diagnosis. Nevertheless there is a ton of manure on the Internet hiding the gold nuggets.
I like to get my lab results and look up (under reliable sources) definitions of terms I don’t know, read up a bit on sites like Mayo Clinic regarding anything relevant. I figure that gives me a better vantage point when my doctor starts telling me what is going on. I have a better chance of understanding any new issues and what my options are. My dr has never complained that I ask a lot of questions and take notes. But no, Dr Google is not my dr. I have been able to avoid taking some medications for problems that can be solved by dietary changes, for example. Drs often don’t offer those options because most people won’t do them.
Unfortunately, I have had the displeasure of meeting doctors that were pretty incompetent and downright dangerous to their patients. Thankfully, most are great.

Nor did Dr. Google pull 24 hour shifts and tolerate the various prejudices patients and their families feel free to direct towards doctors.
