When working out or exercising, don’t wait to drink when you are thirsty; drink so that you don’t get thirsty. While it is humanly possible to drink too much water, it is extremely difficult, so it is highly unlikely that you’ll be able to do it.
You can make jokes about wet T-shirts, but they do work in the hot sun. If you HAVE to work out in the sun, consider turning the hose on yourself. It pays to cover up so consider wearing a long sleeved T-shirt, a hat with a wide brim (stick a washcloth under it to cover the back of the neck if necessary – such a flap as the French Foreign Legion had in Africa is called a havelock ) and of course, sunglasses to block UV rays from burning out your retinas.
The body has a test for proper hydration: urine. It should be clear and almost colorless. If it isn’t clear, you got bigger problems than dehydration: see a doctor. If it is bright or dark yellow, chug a quart of water.
If you feel dizzy or nauseous, stop, sit or lay down in the shade or get into air conditioning. It doesn’t hurt to take frequent breaks even if you aren’t feeling bad.

Next time use a bottle with a straw. It will be just like a water fountain (or bubbler for those of you in NE, USA).

Usually we see this gag with soda. I wasn’t sure it would work with seltzer, but then, why not?
