I buy flea treatment for big dogs and divide each pellet three ways for my small mutts. The big pellets are about two bucks more than the small ones.

Perhaps another reason dogs are better than cats. I give my dogs a once a month “doggie treat” that protects against external and internal parasites. He loves doggie treats and the one above goes down without touching the sides of his throat. Strangely he likes the women vet techs at my vet and is over joyed to visit them. I can say, “Lets go to the vet.” and he will race me to the car.

I was able to translate this without looking it up with a little grade school Spanish and a particular nearby street that had piqued my curiosity. The city library is on Alameda de las Pulgas and I wondered what it meant. Now I wonder how bad the pests were to name a place “Flea Grove” but at least it sounds pretty in Spanish.

Back in the 70s I had a friend who had a VW bus, and across the front of it he had painted EL Gato. When I asked him what it meant he said ….The Tick….. we’ve laughed about that for years!!!

My family would speak Yiddish when the children were not suppose to understand. Husband’s family spoke Italian for same.

We wondered what we do when we had children as, like Arlo, my Spanish was rather weak and it was the only language other than English we both spoke. No children, so never had to figure it out.
